Can Anyone Really Love Me?

Reblogged from Built with Grace:

But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Deuteronomy 7:8 (NIV)

There is nothing more secure than the personal prisons we can find ourselves locked into.

What you can do today

Reblogged from Emjayandthem's Blog:

Today is Memorial Day here in the United States.

A day to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and safety.

What can you do today?

By all means, please enjoy a BBQ, the sun on your face and a cold drink in your hand.  Laugh and goof around with family and friends.  Stand in the yard and look up at the sky and revel in the fact that you can do all of these things…

The Empty Box

My daughter has a new man in her life. Both have been in previous relationships and they are currently in the “getting to know you but I sure like you” stage. Our daughter lives in Vegas (an hour away) so we are receiving phone-updates every few days.

During one of the bringing-us-up-to-date conversations, our daughter said that she and her new “beau” were talking about the differences between men and women. You know, sort of the Mars/Venus concept. He brought up the fact that men have an “empty box”. This is a part of a man’s brain where they can “run to and/or hide” at any time – just to be!

My daughter and I started talking about such a concept. In my experience, a woman does not have the capacity for an empty box. Think about it – just for a moment. Most women want to run to a “Empty/Quiet Area of the Brain” but this is what will actually happen in her “Empty Box”.

1. I’ve arrived at my Empty Box
2. Ok, why is this box so quiet
3. Mmmm; I’m bored – Why can’t I relax?
4. Why isn’t there any color in my Empty Box
5. This box needs some sprucing up
6. I need to go shopping to “fix up” my Empty Box
7. I need to call a friend and talk about my Empty Box
8. I need some music
9. Oooh! Music! Let’s Clean
10. Why am I so tired in my Empty Box – I need some Chocolate

You see! Women just can’t and I mean CANNOT stop their minds from flitting to and from. We need to fix something or talk to someone or dance or clean or eat or shop. Now, I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing.

Men need women to pull them out and talk about their feelings. Boys have “no pain/no gain” and “Crying is for Girls” ingrained into their brains. Women help men and Men help women; it’s the teeter-totter of life.

That’s why I love my early morning Prayer-time! The Lord takes me for ME. He loves me for me. He lets me chatter away and flit from one worship prayer to the next. He knows how to bring me back into focus through His Word. Sometimes He spot-lights praise and AWE. Sometimes He places emphases on further training for me.

I’m not worried about my Empty Box – My Lord has me right where I should be.

Colossians 2:8 (NLT) Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.

EMERGENCY PRAYER REQUEST For Baby Khloe

Reblogged from In Love With The Lord:

My friend Sue has just found out that her baby granddaughter Khloe is desperately ill.  A complete diagnosis is not yet in but the doctor anticipates that this may be a serious and life threatening illness for the 23 month old.

I will update my blog when more information is available.  Please pray for the baby, the medical staff caring for her, and for her family that the Lord will shower them with His love, compassion, and healing grace.

Psalm Saturday (5-26)

Psalm 13: 5-6: (KJV)
I have trusted in Thy mercy, my heart shall rejoice in Thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord, because He hath dealt bountifully with me.

Psalm 13: 5-6: (WYC)
but I hoped in thy mercy. Mine heart shall fully have joy in thine health; (but I trusted in thy love. My heart shall make full out joy in thy salvation/My heart shall rejoice in thy deliverance;)
I shall sing to the Lord, that giveth goods to me, and I shall say psalm to the name of the highest Lord. (I shall sing to the Lord, who giveth good things to me, yea, I shall sing a song to the name of the Most High Lord.)

The Mighty One

My daughter just saw “The Avengers” at the movie theater. Think of it, Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Captain America, Black Widow, Nick Fury. Whew! That’s quite the list; right?

If you are movie buffs I will let you decide whether you like the movie or not and if you don’t go to the movies, well, it won’t matter to you.

As for me and my house, we choose The Mighty One!

Luke 1: 49-55 (NIV) The Mighty One has done great things for me—holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors

Covered in Feathers

I just read Psalm 91 Verses 4-5 (KJV) says: He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day.

What is a buckler? Well, I looked up the word Buckler in the Dictionary: A small, round shield held by a handle or worn on the forearm.

My preference in a fight would be the shield and a buckler. I love the image of Jesus out in front with a large Shield in one hand and the Buckler on the other arm. I can just image Him out in front of me fighting off the evil one or anyone who means to harm me.

Feathers’, even being covered in feathers, does not conjure up images of safety, burlesque, maybe, but not protection. Feathers make me think of a warm and cozy feather comforter and being wrapped in its warm embrace.

Oh, I get it now! When I trust in my Lord, Jesus, He goes out in front of me protecting me with His shield of Truth. I no longer need to fear, night or day, because He holds me within His warm embrace comforting me along the way.

Jesus fights for me while I’m waiting in the wings.

In the Land of Far Off

In the Land of Far Off
We receive a Promise
A Gift of the Holy Spirit

In the land of Far Off
We are baptized in the name of Jesus
We are forgiven all our sins

In the land of Far Off
Our Lord God calls us and our children
He calls us to Himself

Acts 2: 38-39 (NASB) “Peter said to them, “Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God shall call to Himself.”

Life Advancement

Our grandson is graduating from High School!

Hip, Hip, Hooray! Three cheers for this amazing young man!

When Jake first started elementary school, my daughter was told over and over again, that Jake would have trouble attaining any sort of “normal” advancement. Jake was integrated into a regular classroom schedule except for reading, writing and math. He was taken out of class for IEP help in those key subjects.

Jake was diagnosed with Asperger’s Autism; add in Cholesteatoma which is a non-malignant tumor of the ear. Jake was diagnosed with this disease when he was in 4th grade and he has had 4 surgeries for this ear problem. Then add to the medical mix treatments for Heart Arrhythmia symptoms which included another surgery; an Ablation.

Jake was already behind in learning and he missed so much school because of his medical issues. I don’t think I ever heard Jake complain. I never heard him say: “This isn’t fair” or “Why me”?

This amazing child always had a smile on his face, he went to school and he always had a positive attitude. This young many took his medical issues and his schooling to a different level. He made friends, tons of friends, and he took responsibility for his work, and every teacher Jacob ever met was flabbergasted at his caring attitude and his sheer will.

So here’s to Jacob Daniel! We applaud you, we love you and we can’t wait to see what God has in store for your life! Go out with the amazing grace you have shown to all your life.

You attained – You completed – You advanced when others said you wouldn’t

Happy Graduation, Jake

We love you to the Moon and Back

Judges 6:12 (NKJV) And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!
