I just read Psalm 33. There are so many delicious verses that I could write several stories just on this Psalm alone! Psalm 33 1-3 says: I will extol the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together. (NIV 1984).
Now boasting about my self is not a good thing. If I brag about my self, show off or toot my own horn, well, it’s just “my bad”. When I boast in the LORD; I sing His praises and I glorify Him.
My favorite verse in Psalm 33 is Verse 4 which says: I sought the Lord and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Verse four does not say the Lord takes away my problems; it says the Lord delivers me from the fear of my situations.
Then in Psalm 33: Verse 7 it says: the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him and He delivers them. Wow! An angel of the Lord is camped around me; keeping me warm and keeps me safe from things that go bump in the night.
Psalm 33: Verse 8 says: Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. How about that? Taste and see the Lord! I can enjoy, savor and even salivate for the Lord because I have been invited to sit down rest the tent of His protection.
Psalm 33: Verse 17-18 continues to assure us by saying: the righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Remember the old Motown song “What’s become of the Brokenhearted? We are reassured if our heart is broken; the Lord is close. He is holding your broken heart in His Hand.
So grab a seat around the Angel-protected campsite. Get out the S’Mores and taste the goodness of the Lord. If you are broken-hearted or crushed in Spirit, then, snuggle up in His sleeping bag of love. Warm your heart with His fire of protection and sing out those campfire songs in praise!
