How can we be happy when sad things happen? There is a book called: When bad things happen to good people by Harold Kushner. Bad things do happen. Sad events occur. Whenever these situations come crashing into our lives; we question God and sometimes question our faith. Why do certain life-happenings turn some people away from God and draw others closer to God?

I don’t think we really believe there is no God. I think there is a yearning, a longing, yes even, a God-sized hole in all of us. We need the comfort of His perfect Love. We want to be wrapped us in the blanket of His protection. We want the warm, comfort-food of His Word.

Psalm 47: 1-2 says: Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over all the Earth.

Psalm 47: 4-5 continues: He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom He loved. God has ascended amid shouts of joy; the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.

Psalm 47: 6 gives us the best advice of all: Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.

Singing praise is listed four; count them four times in one verse. We are invited, advised and guided to sing praise to our Father. It is recommended we shout out in praise, clap our hands in praise and sing, sing, sing, sing praises to God; our King.

The Lord Most High has given us our inheritance. The great King over all the Earth loves us. Draw close and sing, shout and know He has everything in control even when life feels out of control.
