Can we have a word? You know a word that is just ours; like a favorite song? Well, I choose ponder! I love the word ponder and I think I may have written about my love of this word. Ponder means think about or wonder about.
I wonder and think “about” a lot of things. I think about nature’s sun-rise and sun-set. I wonder where I will be next year and what will happen to my family, friends and the world. I often deliberate on weird things like: who thought of that word or how did something “happen” the exact way it happened. I contemplate about God’s plan in my life, God’s goodness and His Word.
God’s Word! Boy, do I get lost in His Word; sometimes going in circles and sometimes completing His circle. I brood over, mull over and meditate on the writings of His spirit-filled Words. I weigh those words deep within my soul. Sometimes the words weigh lightly and at other times, well, the Word lays heavily upon me.
The words in Proverbs 4: 14-17 gives me warnings along the pathway of my life. Do not walk in the way of evil. Do not walk on evil’s path, do not travel on it, turn away from evil. Proverbs 4: 19: The way of the wicked is darkness for they do not know what makes them stumble.
But also in Proverbs 4: 18 and 20-27 there are suggestions like walking in my light-path. My path is guided by diligence towards the shining sun that brightly shines into the perfect days ahead. My walk-way is guided by the diligence in paying attention to, inclining my ear towards His word and diligence in keeping my eye on the path and holding His word close to my heart.
I need to keep my heart attentive and persist in following the direction chosen for me; looking straight ahead at Him. I need to let “my ways” be proven and reputable as I ponder along towards His grace and head towards the Spring of Life.
Proverbs 4: 14-27
Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way. For they cannot sleep till they do evil; they are robbed of slumber till they make someone fall. They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.
The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble. My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.
