There is a new Fall TV; we are currently seeing advertisements trying to entice us to watch. There is a beautiful girl who is standing on the beach. In the background her whispery voice is saying: This is not a story of forgiveness. This is a story of revenge because Someone Has to Pay.
We now have several channels showing Liars (but they are pretty) and revenge takers (but they live the privileged life) and a family of cheaters (or to put it nicely, con artists).
We have all read, heard and been taught about Romans 12:19 saying: Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
But within Jesus is forgiveness. Psalm 130:4 says: But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.
We are placed on this earth to serve our Almighty Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus. There is no room for revenge when we live in love.
Love teaches, encourages and heals as Jesus taught in Matthew 26:28: This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Even though Jesus may have taken revenge with a blink of His eye, He chose to forgive other’s betrayal. He chose to give up His life for us and submit to His Father’s wishes.
Someone had to pay and HE did.

Susie, it’s amazing how much of television reflects the evils we seek to avoid! Revenge, drug-dealing, even murder. Great post! Thanks, Carley

When I saw the television commercial I was shocked it the new series would be on a Family Station.
Avoid? You Bet!

I have to say I was stunned to see the ads for an entire series called Revenge. I wonder if they’ll paint it as sweet? There’s a fellow where I work (we don’t have any contact – but he’s technically my boss) whose license plate is REEVNGE – He seems pleasant enough on the surface but I wonder if his heart might not be aching.
I’m late reading it, but very timely post, friend. Hope you’re having a wonderful trip.
