My daily reader quoted 1 Peter 1: 3-5: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Wait! Did you hear it? You – me – us. We have a reservation in Heaven; waiting for us. Jesus has, in His abundant mercy, made an arrangement with Our Heavenly Father. We have an advanced booking; a reserved seat at Eternity’s Table.

This inheritance is unchanging, everlasting and indestructible. Your reservation, through Jesus’ unblemished, unstained, spotless and pure gift of grace has been earmarked and set in reserve, for YOU, through faith. This verse doesn’t say the reservation is cancelled when our faith stumbles or when our faith feels like a tiny seed. No, the verse says, through faith, your inheritance does not fade away. You have God’s power behind you through faith.

Blessed be God, our Father and blessed be Jesus Christ. Oh, we have been given the gift of abundant mercy and living hope! Hope that is Alive.
