Matthew 14: 28-31: Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

How many times have we heard this story of Jesus walking on the water? How many times have you identified yourself with Peter, rash and boisterous Peter, as he tries to emulate His Lord. First, Peter walked in faith but within seconds, he questions and doubts.
Peter knew he could not walk on water without Jesus permission. Just asking the question and stepping out of the boat took a tremendous amount of courage. Peter wasn’t afraid to ask and he wasn’t afraid to get out of the boat, right?
Peter started his journey but he saw and felt the wind becoming afraid and then sank into the water. Peter knew Jesus would save him and he cried out immediately. That’s when Jesus reached out His Hand and caught Peter; catching him as he cried out his Lord’s name.
How many journeys in faith have you started? How many times have you stepped out in courage only to look at the “winds”? You started your journey with faith and courage. You weren’t afraid to step out of the “boat” so what stopped you from completing your journey?
Did you take your eyes off of Jesus?
Don’t be afraid – Call out His name – He’ll catch you.
