Have you seen it? Have you heard their voices? A newer TV musical talent show has famous singers pick a team of budding talent. The battle begins as each team is whittled down to the last few lucky and talented singers. There are cheers and tears shed as each person tries to give the best performance possible.

But I prefer THE VOICE!

Mark 1:10 (NIV) As Jesus was coming up out of the water, He saw Heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on Him like a dove.

Normally, any of us would be afraid if we saw Heaven being torn open; but Jesus knew His Father.

And the voice said: You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased!
(Mark 1:11 NIV)

Here’s the interesting part of the passage. Mark 1:12 (NIV) says: At once the Spirit sent him out into the desert, and He was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended Him.

So we have Heaven being torn open, THE VOICE heralding from above, the Holy Spirit descending as Jesus is being baptized.

Jesus was comforted by His Father in a loving statement. Then, the Messenger and Comforter; the Holy Spirit was placed inside of Jesus. The Trinity, together in that one glorious moment, gave Jesus the strength to fight temptation for forty long days.

When temptation knocks at your door, you have the same weapon of defense

Just listen to THE VOICE.
