1Samuel 2, birds, bunnies, bushes, crying out, disillusioned, fall, God brings us to rest, God provides, heat, Luke 29, parched desert, Psalm 63, set things right, shattered, weary, weary soul, wiped out
Can you feel it? FALL is in the air. Cool mornings and evenings and warm afternoons. Trees are changing showing off their splendor with gold, red, orange and brown. Pumpkins are ready for pies and squash is standing by for roasting.
Aaaah! Homemade soup, roast, fresh bread and baked goodies are just around the corner.
Here in the Desert even the desert floor is displaying its glory. Bushes dried by the hot summer sun are now bursting with seed ready to feed the tiny birds, the cotton-tail bunnies and the long eared jack rabbits; provision after the HEAT.
Ever felt like you are living in a parched desert – your soul dry, weary and crying out?
Have you felt shattered, disillusioned and wiped out at least once in your life journey?
Psalm 63:1 (Voice) O True God, You are my God, the One whom I trust. I seek You with every fiber of my being. In this dry and weary land with no water in sight, my soul is dry and longs for You. My body aches for You, for Your presence.
BUT GOD PROVIDES
Luke 29:12 (Message) “What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don’t be afraid of missing out. You’re my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself.
BUT GOD BRINGS US TO REST
1 Samuel 2: 6-10 (Message) God brings death and God brings life, brings down to the grave and raises up. God brings poverty and God brings wealth; he lowers, he also lifts up. He puts poor people on their feet again; he rekindles burned-out lives with fresh hope, Restoring dignity and respect to their lives— a place in the sun! For the very structures of earth are God’s; he has laid out his operations on a firm foundation. He protectively cares for his faithful friends, step by step, but leaves the wicked to stumble in the dark. No one makes it in this life by sheer muscle! God’s enemies will be blasted out of the sky, crashed in a heap and burned. God will set things right all over the earth, he’ll give strength to his king, he’ll set his anointed on top of the world!
